Celebrating 20 years of Life+

This year we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of LIFE+, which passed into law on 21st May 1992 – paving the way for the launch of the LIFE programme - the EU’s financial instrument for the environment.

To mark this special occasion, more than 300 ‘LIFE 20th anniversary’ events were taking place throughout the month of May. An anniversary event was held also in Slovenia, organised by the Ministry of agriculture and the environment on 18th May which, we attended together with other present and past profunded projects. The purpose of the event was to exchange views and experiences of applicants, their partners, co-financiers, and contractors and promote the importance of such funds for nature conservation and environmental protection for future generations.

Attendees were adressed by the Minister for agriculture and the environment – Mr. Franc Bogovič,  head of the LIFE+ unit at DG Environment of the European Commission – Mr. Angelo Salsi. National contact  for LIFE+ - Mrs. Juliana Lebež Lozej presented an interesting cross section of funded projects and Mr. Mitja Kaligarič, Astrale talked about the help and supervision of the European Commission for project managers. The meeting concluded with  socializing and snacks in the lobby, where an exhibition of slovene projects funded by Life+ was held.
